Opening Of Downtown East Cathay

We are so excited about having a nearby cinema within our estate, we used to go to town for a quick show, the nearest one we can go was Tampines. Now that the one in Downtown East has open, we can enjoy movies more easily. Further more, there's this kid's Xplporer ( the biggest children playground so far ) for kids and children to enjoy. Looking forward to bring Gracia along with us. Mean while, we had already showed our support for being an early bird to the cinema and watched "The Forbidden Kingdom".

Make yourself a drink in this HOT HOT weather.

Recently Singapore's weather is pretty hot, so hot i almost got roasted working under the Sun. Checked on the Singapore weather forecast website and it shows 34 degree c in the afternoon. What a hot hot day. Periods of extremely hot weather--heat waves--can cause serious health problems for everyone.

Normally, the body cools itself by sweating. If temperatures and humidity are extremely high, however, sweating is not effective in maintaining the body's normal temperature. When this happens, blood chemistry can change and internal organs--including the brain and kidneys--can be damaged. Heat also can be stressful if the temperature changes suddenly, since it usually takes several days for the body to adjust to heat. The most common heat-related conditions are heatstroke, heat exhaustion, heat cramps, sunburn and heat rash. Heatstroke and heat exhaustion are the most serious conditions.

Below are a few example to cool down yourself :

Limit outdoor activities. Try to plan activities for the coolest times of the day--before noon and in the evening. When physically active, rest frequently in the shade.

Protect your body. Wear as little clothing as possible when indoors, and wear light colored, loose fitting clothing outdoors. When spending time outdoors, avoid direct sunlight, wear a hat and use a sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) greater than 15 to protect yourself against sunburn.

Never leave children the elderly or pets in a parked car, not even for just a few minutes. The air temperature inside a car rises rapidly during hot weather and can lead to brain damage or death.

Most Importantly Drink plenty of fluids. During hot weather, you will need to drink more liquid than your thirst indicates. Even if you remain indoors and limit your activity, your body still needs to replace lost fluids, salt and minerals. Make an extra effort to drink a minimum of six to eight 8 oz. glasses of cool fluids daily. During heavy exercise in a hot environment, drink two to four glasses of cool fluids each hour. Parents should be sure young children get sufficient fluids. If you are on a special fluid-restricted diet or if you take diuretics, ask your physician about fluid intake during hot weather.

Maybe you would like to make yourself or your loves one a cool and sweet coconut drink. Add some fruit to make it more tasty and refreshing. Enjoy!

Pork Chop

This is the first time my wife made Pork Chop
for me. Although it's a bit salty, over all it's still
considered good for me. I appreciate more of the
effort than the taste.
My wife seems suspicious of her own cooking.
She must be wondering will I finished the whole
plate she cooked.

There's also broccoli, carrots and fries to go along .

A good combination of colours. Looking forward to try

new experiment cooking from her.

Salute to all Mother whom breastfeed more than 6 months.

A National Breastfeeding Survey conducted by the Health Promotion Board (HPB) in 2001 showed that the 95% of mothers attempted to breastfeed, which was 30% higher than that in 1980.

The survey found that about 95% of the mothers surveyed attempted breastfeeding as compared to 65% in 1980. The most important reason for initiating breastfeeding, cited by 84% of these mothers, was that breast milk was healthier for their babies. Of the minority who made no attempts to breastfeed their babies, the most important reason cited by them was that they did not see the need to breastfeed. The mean duration of breastfeeding was 13 weeks. The prevalence of breastfeeding was about 72% at 1 month with 50% continuing to do so at 2 months. But the prevalence rate dropped to 21% by the time the babies were 6 months old. The working status of mothers did not have a significant impact on the initiation of breastfeeding although it did have a significant impact on the breastfeeding duration. About 26% of non-working mothers breastfed for up to 6 months as compared to 18% of working mothers.

The factors that contributed to working mothers stopping breastfeeding between 2 and 6 months were due to work-related factors (such as the need to return to work, facilities at the workplace not being conducive for breastfeeding and the demands of work interfering with breastfeeding), insufficient breast milk and baby preferring formula milk.

The factors cited by non-working mothers stopping breastfeeding between 2 and 6 months were insufficient breast milk , baby preferring formula milk and lack of help with the care of baby, other children or household chores.
The Survey also showed that exclusive breastfeeding is not a common practice in Singapore. For most mothers, breastfeeding was combined with supplementary feeds of powdered milk. Only 14% of the 2 months old babies were breastfed exclusively. By 6 months, less than 1% of the babies were breastfed exclusively. According to a publication by WHO in 1996, the exclusive breastfeeding rate under 4 months of age is 49%; in the South East Asia region, and 34% in the Americas. ( So I want to tell my Gracia how lucky you are ) IT"S been more than 9 months and your mummy still BF you exclusively.

For the mothers, breastfeeding has been associated with reduced risk of ovarian cancer and breast cancer in pre-menopausal women. The short-term benefits to the mother include rapid return to normal weight and a delayed resumption of ovulation leading to increased child spacing.

A happy day.

Yesterday was a very special day for our family, it was my daughter who first time gets her new passport, and I drove my daughter together with my wife to the Immigration office in the afternoon to collect it. We got the q-number 2827 and proceeded to the waiting area and saw the number flashing on the serving board at 2736 or so, about another 91 people ahead of us. We decided not to wait there and have a 15min walk outside (because you know how it's like to sit down there waiting for more than half an hour esp with a 10 months old baby).
We went back 15min later but realized the number had jumped only by another 30-35 since we arrived. I told my wife we go for another walk but a longer one this time, while outside the immigration building my stomach starts to beat the drum and I told my wife I am hungry (because my wife cook a very small stingy but really delicious small plate of sphegetti for lunch which I did not filled enough into my stomach). We then proceeded to the nearest coffee shop and I told my wife I am going to get some BUN to eat. In the end I did not bought any bun but ordered a plate of Char Sew rice... HAHAHA! Guess I must be really hungry.
On the way back to the immigration building, I asked my wife don't know if our number had passed or maybe we will just reach exactly on time, but then I say, impossible la (4D also not so accurate la) But to our amazed, when my feet stepped right on the 2nd level on the collection floor, our number 2827 flashed right in front of us and both me and my wife break into laughter. (Really! 4D also not so chun man)
Besides feeling very happy for Gracia new passport, we have something more significant to shout for. That's is "SHINE SHINE give birth liao! Woah! Halleluiah!!!
Yes, our dog, or the dog we used to own delivered today; I got a message from her current owner that she's on labour during 2.40pm. The last message I received is she delivering her sixth puppy at 2030hr. I haven't got any news from there and am now waiting for the owner to update me her latest progression.
OK. I need to go to sleep now and will update shine's and her puppy fate later part. OK.
Shine resting on my bed during my ownership.

In the living room on the carpet.
Shine's a puppy!!!

At the multicarpark with my wife. ( I always play hide and seek with shine at this carpark every morning during my care)

Good bye!!!
