Why is my piggy bank still empty?

I've been trying to crochet some pretty flowers over the weekend and make them into hair scrunchies so I can give some away to some very lovely girls in my life. Things just weren't going my way. I tried my hands at it for many times, from my bedroom to the bathroom and finally to the sofa in my living room hoping that a change of environment will turn my luck around. No luck!! I was feeling kind of frustrated that I have to redo and undo my stitches many times. Today I am feeling a bit demoralised by my many failed attempts and was surfing the net for other items to crochet but I wasn't feeling satisfied. Deep down inside my heart, there was an urge to complete what I have started. So I copied down the instructions again and hopefully I can get it right tonight. : )

It's finished!

I've finally done it! Am very happy it turned out to be what I wanted it to look like. I am going to experiment making more using different colours and textures of yarn. "A battle with procrastination" ends here and I am happy I emerged victoriously! Yipee!!!

Mistake

It was a disaster. Not only couldnt it fit into Gracia's head, it does not even have the shape of a hat! I am not going to say more about it just that I woke up at 3 plus in the morning, somtimes 4 plus, crochet till 6 plus before I get ready for work. I am just going to try again and hopefully my 2nd attempt will not end up looking like this again. I will have to forgo this project till I get the instructions right, hopefully from a kind soul's help. This time I am going to have a brand new 2nd project. My next destination will be to the national library again!

A battle with PROCRASTINATION

Lately I've been procrastinating. I've been borrowing books on crocheting for the past few months, tried a few basic stitches in rectangles and I am still nowhere near to crochet a what I call a decent piece of accessory for my girl!! I hate procrastinating yet sometimes I find myself best at procrastinating and that's the reason why I call this a battle. Whether it's a battle won or lost this time, I am giving myself a pat on my shoulders first for if I am not trying to help myself, I wouldnt have posted it here to "force" myself to complete an accessory for Gracia. My first crochet project will be a girl's beanie. I hope I'll be able to post the first few rounds of a decent crocheted beanie here soon. Do stay tuned! : )

Toddler's drawing

I've read that over the last several months of a toddler first year, the child's fine motor skills improved steadily. since Gracia is now physically ready to grab hold of a colour pencil and start experimenting,we had converted one of our unused coffee table for her to draw. She has already scribble vigorously on the paper mummy paste on top of it. She seems to enjoy dragging and scrawling all around on the paper, of course what she draw seems unrecognizable for us now. We just want to kick start her interest and hopefully her writing and drawing skills will improve in tiny incremental steps throughout the toddler years eventually.

Another Money Saving Project.

Yes! My wife has done it again, a selfmade Shape Sorting toy which usually cost around $15-$20. This Shape Sorting Cube gives Gracia the opportunity to feel solid shapes and discover where and how they fit into their appropriate space.


THIS IS WHAT YOU CAN GET IF YOU ARE WILLING TO SPENT AROUND $15 FOR IT


The classic Shape Sorting Cube usually are made from solid wooden or plastic material and comes with 4 most common shape,(square, round, triangle and rectangel). But my wife substitute it with recycling cupboard and it actually turn out to be as good or at least firm enough to play with though it's not as solid as wood or plastic. Each solid shape has it's own 'door' to place the shape into. We show Gracia how each solid shape fits into it's own 'door' and then listen for the drop inside the cube. Allow the child to show you next and if they are still interested move onto another side of the cube. By demonstrating one side at a time, this will diminish confusion and the young child becoming over whelmed with too many shapes. After Gracia has accomplished one side at a time, i suggest to my wife we can actually demonstrate sorting the shapes by color and then finding their 'doors'. So when i am free, i will colour each side of the cube to match with the individual shape. Hee... There are just so many learning possiblities with the Shape Sorting Cube.
